Amy Erica Smith co-authors political analysis piece for the Washington Post


Amy Erica Smith, a Liberal Arts and Sciences’ dean’s professor and associate professor of political science has co-authored a political analysis piece for The Washington Post.

The piece, “Brazil’s president is rallying his base–so that he can expand his power,” was published in the Monkeny Cage section.

The Monkey Cage’s mission is to connect political scientists and the political conversation by creating a compelling forum, developing publicly focused scholars and building an informed audience.

Smith is considered an expert on politics in Brazil. She is often quoted in high-profile publications, such as The New York Times and the Washington Post. She is the author of “Religion and Brazilian Democracy: Mobilizing the People of God” (Cambridge University Press, 2019).
