Ryan D. Sheeler, lecturer in the Department of Music and Theatre, recently published a book through Centerstream Publishing and Hal Leonard, Inc. titled “Ritchie Valens: His Guitars and Music.”
Currently teaching History of Rock n’ Roll at Iowa State University, Sheeler looks at Ritchie’s music in a different way than others. Included are photos and information on Valen’s famous guitars, as well as an observation into how he might have approached his playing.
This book also presents a brand-new transcription of “La Bamba,” with accompanying guitar tablature of the famous intro riff and Ritchie’s celebrated guitar solo.
