LAS student appointed Summer Scholar

Jacob Martin, graduate student in the Department of Political Science, was appointed Summer Scholar by the Postsecondary National Policy Institute (PNPI). Martin and one other Summer Scholar will work alongside the institute’s staff developing curriculum and development opportunities for prospective and current federal policymakers who work on higher education issues.

During the May 30 – August 4 program, Martin will support and staff PNPI seminars; draft featured reports; research topics in postsecondary education; curate resources for Congressional staff; and attend and report on postsecondary policy events in Washington, D.C.

“We are proud of Jacob’s signal achievement," said Mack Shelley, University Professor and chair of the Department of Political Science. "This opportunity is a perfect example of the experiences we encourage students to pursue – those that enrich their degree and help them develop new avenues for future careers."

Martin is the first Summer Scholar selected for the program who is not currently an Ivy-League student.
