Author: Amy Juhnke

English Department lecturer Jennifer L. Knox’s year-long environmental crowd sourced poetry project, [Iowa Bird of Mouth](http://iowabirdofmouth.com/), ended on August 31, 2017. With support from the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, over 750 people shared their words about Iowa birds—from Guggenheim Fellows and National Book Award nominees to Brownie troops and kindergarten classes. The text is open source for non-commercial projects, and the website now features an [art gallery](http://iowabirdofmouth.com/gallery) of IBOM-inspired art shared via social media and email. Knox is currently working with Ames radio station KHOI on a series of community-based musical performances, poetry readings and public art works inspired by the project.
