Jonathan Hassid, assistant professor of political science, recently published China’s Unruly Journalists: How committed professionals are changing the People’s Republic, a book that explores why some Chinese journalists take on the great risk of challenging the Communist Party and censorship.

Before joining Iowa State in January 2015, he received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley (2010) and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Technology, Sydney (2010-2014). He has published extensively, with articles in Comparative Political Studies, China Quarterly, the Journal of Communication, Journalism, and elsewhere.
