The Greenlee School has named Debra Solberg Gibson the recipient of its 2021 James W. Schwartz Award. The annual award recognizes distinguished service to journalism and communication and is the highest honor conferred by the school.
Gibson most recently served as associate professor of practice and Meredith Professional in Residence at the Greenlee School. She retired from Iowa State University in May 2021. In her 17 years with Greenlee, Deb taught and advised hundreds of students and led Iowa State’s apprentice program with Meredith Corporation.
She will be recognized at the Oct. 1 Greenlee Advisory Council meeting and at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Honors and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 21.
