The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded Alex Gonzalez, assistant professor in the Department of Geological and Atmospheric sciences, a $316,0000 grant. The award will fund his research as well as broad-impact outreach activities through Iowa State University’s Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) program.
Gonzalez’s research, “Nonlinear Dynamics of Daily-Weekly Boreal Spring InterTropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) Shifts Over the Pacific Ocean,” will be funded through 2023.
The award was granted through the NSF’s highly competitive Climate and Large-Scale Dynamics Program.
