The Cassling Family Faculty Awards were established by Randal and Lori Cassling of Omaha, Nebraska, in honor of Randal’s parents, Robert and Rita Lenore Dunn Cassling.

Cassling Innovation Award

The Cassling Innovation Award is a new award that helps outstanding faculty members move innovative research ideas forward from the initial stage.

Shakeshaft Master Teacher Award
Annemarie Butler, associate professor of philosophy and religious studies

The Shakeshaft Master Teacher Award was established in memory of Jerry Shakeshaft by his family, friends and colleagues. Dr. Shakeshaft was a long-time political science professor at Iowa State dedicated to the positive impact of undergraduate teaching. This award is presented to an outstanding teacher in the humanities and social sciences.

Trapp Innovation Award
Art Winter, associate professor of chemistry

This annual award provides funding to a faculty member who is pursuing new or unusual research in chemistry or the physical sciences.
