Dee Egdorf, a lecturer in the Department of Psychology, was honored for her teaching excellence with an award from the College Football Playoff Foundation and ESPN. A clip of Egdorf receiving the award aired during ESPN’s broadcast of the Iowa vs. Iowa State game at Jack Trice Stadium on September 11.
Egdorf, who teaches Introduction to Interpersonal Communications, was nominated for the award by Eyioma Akunna Uwazurike, an Iowa State University senior and starting defensive tackle on the Cyclone football team.
“I came into Iowa State as an open option major and I didn’t quite know exactly what I wanted to do,” Uwazurike said. “I got to see how fun her class was and it made me want to learn more about communication studies and I ended up picking that as a major.”
In addition to being featured on national television, Egdorf was presented with a $1,000 gift card for her outstanding impacts in the classroom.
