Wang named Fellow

Author: Amy Juhnke

Lily Wang, associate professor of statistics, was named a Fellow in the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. She was honored for her contributions to spatial, survey, image and functional analysis using nonparametric and semiparametric methods, especially to partially linear models, confidence envelopes and bivariate smoothing.

Dr. Wang’s primary areas of research include developing cutting-edge statistical non/semi-parametric methods, statistical (machine) learning of large datasets with complex features, methodologies for functional data and spatiotemporal data, survey sampling, high dimensional data analysis, and the application of statistics to problems in economics, engineering, neuroimaging, official statistics, plant science, geography, environmental studies, and biomedical science.
