The “Latinxs and Hispanics in Mathematical Sciences — Lathisms” Project was founded in 2016 in order to showcase the contributions of Latinx and Hispanic mathematicians during Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated in the United States from September 15 to October 15 every year.
During this time, Lathisms features a prominent Latinx/Hispanic mathematician daily, providing a biography and information on their research, teaching and service contributions. Pablo Raúl Stinga, assistant professor of mathematics, was honored as Mathematician of the Day for October 14, 2018.
