Lori Biederman, adjunct associate professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology, is a co-author on a publication, “Increasing effects of chronic nutrient enrichment on plant diversity loss and ecosystem productivity over time”.

This research appeared in the journal Ecology and is part of the continuing work of the Nutrient Network, which is a global collaborative to monitor changes in grasslands following nutrient enrichment. Dr. Biederman maintains two Nutrient Network sites in Iowa.

Ecology publishes articles that report on the basic elements of ecological research. Emphasis is placed on concise, clear articles documenting important ecological phenomena. The journal publishes a broad array of research that includes a rapidly expanding envelope of subject matter, techniques, approaches, and concepts: paleoecology through present-day phenomena; evolutionary, population, physiological, community, and ecosystem ecology, as well as biogeochemistry; inclusive of descriptive, comparative, experimental, mathematical, statistical, and interdisciplinary approaches.
