Jennifer Handy, MFA candidate in Creative Writing and the Environment in the Department of English, recently published a book entitled “A Child Cries in Levittown” with Finishing Line Press.
A coming-of-age story written in verse, the book examines and interrogates the insular world of middle America through the eyes of a teenage girl. Set in an unspecified suburban community, the narrator encounters conformity, emptiness, prejudice, repression, and an array of subtle cruelties that will shape her life well into adulthood.
