Katherine Rafferty, teaching professor in the communication studies program, recently collaborated with two colleagues on a research study published in the journal “Frontiers in Global Women’s Health.” The qualitative, critical inquiry explores women’s medication abortion narratives post-Dobbs across a variety of public online platforms. The “post-Dobbs” framing situates the research after the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court decision (Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization) that overturned the federal right to abortion established in Roe v. Wade, which reshaped access to abortion care across the U.S. — including a growing reliance on medication abortion in states with restrictions.
