Mariana Castro Azpíroz, graduate student in the Creative Writing and Environment MFA program in the Department of English, recently exhibited at the Q.ueens Council on the Arts in new York City alongside events for the New York Climate Week. The gallery exhibition is titled “Imagining Climate Futures” and was organized by Climate Futures Studio to showcase 18 original works created by members of the Climate Storytelling 2075 Cohort—emerging artists, writers, and activists who envision a regenerative and just climate future fifty years from now, dealing with topics such as environmental justice, community resilience, and interspecies kinship.
Azpíroz created a speculative dictionary in the form of a zine, titled “Caretakers’ New Dictionary,” which can be viewed online here, along with an artist statement and some photographs of the event.
The work will remain on display until February 15, 2026. Those traveling to the area can make reservations to view the work.
